The company is engaged in manufacturing of product in the following therapy areas:CNS disorders,Cardiology,Diabetes and Metabolic disorders,Gastroenterology ,Ophthalmology ,Oncology,Pain ,Allergy, Asthma and Inflammation, Gynecological which is sold in 26 markets worldwide.

Mr. Dilip Shanghvi in 1983 in Kolkata established Sun Pharma with only 5 products. In 1987 Cardiology products were introduced and it is followed by gastroenterology products in 1989. It is one of the largest prescription company in india and market leader in many departments. Today Sun Pharma is the third largest and the most profitable pharmaceutical company in India as well as the largest pharmaceutical company by market capitalisation on the Indian exchanges.

1996 - manufacturing plant at Ahmednagar from Knoll Pharmaceuticals MJ Pharma's dosage plant at Halol.
