GlaxoSmithKline was established in 2000 by the merger of Glaxo Wellcome plc and SmithKline Beecham plc.GlaxoSmithKline was founded in 13 November 1924 in India under the name of H.J.Foster & Co. Limited as an Agency House for distributing Baby Food Glaxo, Joseph Nathan & Co. In 1950, It changed its name to Glaxo Laboratories (I) Ltd.GlaxoSmithKline is headquartered in England and employs over 100,000 people in 117 countries.

Glaxo’s first pharmaceutical product was the vitamin D preparation, Ostelin, in 1924.GSK has a portfolio of products for major disease areas including asthma, cancer, virus control, infections, mental health, diabetes, and digestive conditions. It also has a large consumer healthcare division which produces and markets oral healthcare and nutritional products and over-the-counter medicines including Sensodyne, Boost, Horlicks, and Gaviscon.
