Blood

"Blood is a constantly circulating fluid providing the body with nutrition, oxygen, and waste removal. Blood is mostly liquid, with numerous cells and proteins suspended in it, making blood ""thicker"" than pure water. The average person has about 5 liters (more than a gallon) of blood.
A liquid called plasma makes up about half of the content of blood. Plasma contains proteins that help blood to clot, transport substances through the blood, and perform other functions. Blood plasma also contains glucose and other dissolved nutrients.
About half of blood volume is composed of blood cells:
• Red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the tissues.
• White blood cells, which fight infections.
• Platelets, smaller cells that help blood to clot.
Blood is conducted through blood vessels (arteries and veins). Blood is prevented from clotting in the blood vessels by their smoothness, and the finely tuned balance of clotting factors."

Hyperuricemia

Hyperuricemia is a level of uric acid in the blood that is abnormally high. In humans, the upper end of the normal range is 360 µmol/L (6 mg/dL) for women and 400 µmol/L (6.8 mg/dL) for men. Gout is a kind of arthritis that occurs when uric acid builds up in blood and causes joint inflammation.
1. Acute gout is a painful condition that typically affects one joint.
2. Chronic gout is repeated episodes of pain and inflammation, which may involve more than one joint. Gout is caused by having higher-than-normal levels of uric acid in your body. This may occur if:
1. Your body makes too much uric acid
2. Your body has a hard time getting rid of uric acid
If too much uric acid builds up in the fluid around the joints (synovial fluid), uric acid crystals form. These crystals cause the joint to swell up and become inflamed. The exact cause is unknown. Gout may run in families. It is more common in men, in women after menopause, and those who drink alcohol. People who take certain medicines, such as hydrochlorothiazide and other water pills, may have higher levels of uric acid in the blood.
The condition may also develop in people with:
1. Diabetes
2. Kidney disease
3. Obesity
4. Sickle cell anemia and other anemias
5. Leukemia and other blood cancers
The condition may occur after taking medicines that interfere with the removal of uric acid from the body.
