Montelukast uses and side effect

Indication

Asthma, Exercise Induced Bronchospasm, Allergic Rhinitis, and Urticaria.

Contra Indication

Hypersensitivity, Pregnancy and lactation.

Caution

Not for the relief of acute bronchospasm. Not to be used as monotherapy for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm. Patients in whom asthma is precipitated by aspirin or other NSAIDs should continue to avoid aspirin and NSAIDs.

Side Effect

Diarrhea, dizziness, cough, headache, vomiting, stomach pain and sore throat. Hoarseness, itching, rash, hives, fever and flu-like symptoms.
