The cardiovascular system is responsible for transporting nutrients and removing gaseous waste from the body. Cardiovascular system consists of the heart and the circulatory system. The cardiovascular system includes organs which take up space throughout the body, including the heart and all of the body's veins, arteries and capillaries. The cardiovascular system is basic to life and the beat of one's heart is an automatic function which is controlled by the brain.Structures of the Cardiovascular System are-Heart-The heart is the organ that supplies blood and oxygen to all parts of the body.Blood vessels:-Blood vessels are intricate networks of hollow tubes that transport blood throughout the entire body.Blood:-The blood delivers nutrients to cells and removes wastes that are produced during cellular processes, such as cellular respiration.
Cerebral Activators & Peripheral Vasodilators
"Cerebral Activators: While the use of CNS stimulants has declined due to non-specific nature of their actions, a new class of drugs called 'Cerebral Activators' has been introduced. It is claimed that these drugs improve the brain functions particularly in dementia - a condition of brain characterized by loss of intellect and memory, and may have a role in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. However their use is limited and the claims regarding their efficacy are not always fully substantiated. Peripheral vasodilators are agents which act on the most distal parts of the vascular system i.e. the arterioles and venules. They dilate these distal blood vessels and lower the blood pressure, therefore makes it easier for the heart to pump blood through these peripheral blood vessels (and therefore whole the body).
Peripheral vasodilators are used in the treatment of hypertension, acute myocardial infarction and heart failure. "
