Urinary Tract

The urinary system or renal system is the organ system that produces, stores, and eliminates urine. In humans it includes two kidneys, two ureters, the bladder and the urethra. The female and male urinary system are very similar, they differ only in the length of the urethra.

Hypercalciuria

Hypercalciuria or hypercalcinuria is the condition of elevated calcium in the urine. Chronic hypercalcinuria may lead to impairment of renal function, nephrocalcinosis, and renal insufficiency. It is managed by increasing fluid intake and giving bendroflumethiazide in a dose of 2.5 mg daily. Reducing dietary intake of calcium may be beneficial but severe restriction has not proved beneficial and may even be harmful.
