Indication
Ventricular arrythmias. Sympathetic nerve block. Percutaneous infiltration anaesthesia. Peripheral nerve block. Perianal plain and itching. Haemorrhoids. Surface anaesthesia. Epidural and spinal anaesthesia. Pupil dilation during phacoemulsification cataract surgery.
Contra Indication
Heart block, Bradycardia, Congestive heart failure, Hypersensitivity.
Caution
Hepatic or renal impairment, CHF and following cardiac surgery, bradycardia, respiratory depression, porphyria, elderly or debilitated patients, pregnancy.
Side Effect
Infiltration anaesthesia. Dizziness, paraesthesia, drowsiness, confusion, resp depression and convulsions. Hypotension and bradycardia leading to cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis.
