Indication
Epilepsy in the case of partial seizures, Myoclonic and Tonic-Clonic seizures. Tourette syndrome, Alzheimer's Disease, Autism, Bipolar Disorder and Anxiety Disorder.
Contra Indication
Pregnancy and lactation, Hypersensitivity.
Caution
Renal and hepatic impairment, patients undergoing haemodialysis. If psychotic symptoms (eg hallucination) and behavioural symptoms (eg agitation, anxiety) occur, reduce dosage. Abrupt withdrawal may result in increased seizure frequency. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery during initial therapy.
Side Effect
Drowsiness, weakness, unsteady gait, coordination problems, headache, pain, forgetfulness, anxiety, irritability or agitation, dizziness, mood changes, nervousness, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and changes in skin pigmentation. depression, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, seizures that are worse or different, fever, sore throat, signs of infection, double vision, itching, rash, swelling of the face.
