Indication
Menopause. Oral contraception. Threatened or habitual abortion. Dysmenorrhea. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Failure of ovarian development Hirsuitism. Senile osteoporosis. Post menopausal osteoporosis. Breast cancer. Prostatic carcinoma. Suppression of post partum lactation. Senile vaginitis. Delayed puberty in girls.
Contra Indication
Hypersensitivity, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, clot in blood vessels, breast cancer, estrogen-dependent tumor, disorders of certain enzymes, pregnancy.
Caution
Cerebrovascular disorder, coronary artery disease or venous thromboembolism. Estrogens should be used with caution in children, because premature closure of epiphysis may occur resulting in inhibited linear growth and small stature.
Side Effect
GI disturbances, genitourinary changes, haematologic disorders, CV and CNS effects, endocrine and metabolic disorders, cholestatic jaundice, local skin reactions, chorea, contact lens intolerance, steeping of corneal curvature, pulmonary thromboembolism, carbohydrate intolerance.
