Indication
Used to treat Parkinson’s disease and in the treatment of shingles (herpes zoster), to reduce pain. As an antiviral drug, it act by inhibiting the replication of influenza type A virus.
Contra Indication
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy and lactation. Epilepsy or other seizure disorders, severe renal impairment and gastric ulceration.
Caution
Confusional state or underlying psychiatric disorders, in patients with liver or kidney disorders, and cardiovascular disorders. Renal/hepatic/peptic disorders. Patients with cerebral atherosclerosis, eczema, psychosis.
Side Effect
Nervousness, anxiety, agitation, insomnia, difficulty in concentrating, and exacerbations of pre-existing seizure disorders and psychiatric symptoms in patients with schizophrenia or Parkinson's disease. severe skin rashes. Livedo reticularis.
